Known as the PAM00382, it is symbolic of all things pelagic, a piece so aquatic in appearance that you can almost sense the saltiness of the sea.? If King Neptune wore a watch then this would be it.If you know Panerai, then you’ll know this model, it has all the safety hardware – unidirectional rotating bezel with graduated scale for dive time, the outsize security brake lever-locked crown, the raised studs on the bezel.? Among them, one of my favourites, the Officine Panerai Radiomir Composite Marina Militare 8 Giorni – PAM00339.Officine Panerai Radiomir Composite Marina Militare 8 Giorni PAM00339Released in a limited edition of just 1000 examples, this Radiomir exudes classic Panerai simplicity, evoking the memory of early models and mounted on a vintage leather hand-stitched strap, yet it marks a new milestone in materials technology. The silky 47mm case is constructed in a remarkable composite, new to watch*** and developed by Panerai, which is harder than stainless steel, titanium and even conventional ceramics. This special edition piece features the Panerai Calibre OP XXVII hand wound movement based on a Minerva base.? The watchcase constructed from titanium is 47mm wide and is the instantly recognisable cushion shape.The very origins of the Radiomir are reproduced here to striking effect, for it is, in part, a tribute to the 1936 Radiomir prototype in that the dial of this Radiomir Titanium which, as with it’s unbranded predecessor,?is?also bereft of ?branding or text.?However, the?signature Panerai subsidiary seconds dial, located at the 9 o'clock position, and the distinctive?cushion case illustrate how the brand have remained true to it’s heritage to this day.
