Richard Mille has created a new version of its extra-flat RM 016 caliber that has previously been produced in rose gold, white gold and titanium. The RM 016 was the first new case shape for the brand since the Richard Mille Watch line was first introduced.The newest addition to the RM016 is crafted in grade 5 titanium and finished with a Titalyt treatment. The use of this special Titalyt treatment marks the first time it has been used in the creation of a timepiece. The creation of this watch utilizes the process of titanium oxidation which is fulfilled using electro-plasma. This process improves the hardness of the metal as well as its friction, wear and corrosion-resistance. This process also corresponds to AMS 2488D aerospace material norms and the biocompatible treatment is widely applied in the aerospace, medical and automobile industries. The process also results in a uniquely colored case that stands out from other titanium watches. The 49.8 mm x 38 mm case is also shockproof and scratchproof. The RM016 Titalyt? features the automatic winding 005-S caliber skeleton movement with variable rotor geometry. The watch displays hours, minutes, date indicator and variable geometry rotor.

JeanRichard Aquascope 300m diving watchJust like the recently presented JeanRichard 2TimeZones Zirconium limited edition wrist watch, the new JeanRichard Aquascope diving watch is delivered in a cushion-shaped case with a pair of crowns at 3 and 9 o’clock positions.However, since the new Aquascope lacks the GMT functionality, the crown at 9 o’clock serves completely different purpose and is used to lock its bidirectional rotating bezel in a fixed position. The main crown, as usual, operates the hour and minute hands as well as sets the correct date. Well, and, unfortunately enough, in this particular case the, err, case of the Aquascope is made not of zirconium and rubber but of plain stainless steel.JeanRichard Aquascope 300m diving watchThe diving instrument is powered by JeanRichard’s own JR1000 in-house automatic caliber. First presented about six years ago with the classy JeanRichard Paramount watch, the manufacture caliber is built on 27 jewels and its heart beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph for at least 48 hours after the watch is fully wounded. This does not seem like a great feat when compared to mainstream movements from ETA that are capable of running for at least 45 hours, but in fact is much more convenient since you can leave the watch in your desk drawer for whole two days without risking finding it breathless for a couple of hours.I mean, just imagine that you have just woke up barely dressed with a major hangover and a suspiciously looking bruises on your neck and you know that you have a wedding today, but the phone’s battery is dead and the watch doesn’t tick and you have absolutely no idea as to what time it is now. Sounds compelling, enough?The same movement was also used to power the last year’s Diverscope JR1000 model that was also rated for depth up to 300 meters.Like most diving watches, the JeanRichard Aquascope sports a pretty much standard dial layout and bezel decoration introduced many years ago by the industry’s behemoth Rolex with its Submariner and Oyster models. The only deviation from any given Seadweller’s layout is that the watch has the omnipresent triangle at 12 o’clock replaced with respective Arabic numeral.
