Richard Mille has created a new version of its extra-flat RM 016 caliber that has previously been produced in rose gold, white gold and titanium. The RM 016 was the first new case shape for the brand since the Richard Mille Watch line was first introduced.The newest addition to the RM016 is crafted in grade 5 titanium and finished with a Titalyt treatment. The use of this special Titalyt treatment marks the first time it has been used in the creation of a timepiece. The creation of this watch utilizes the process of titanium oxidation which is fulfilled using electro-plasma. This process improves the hardness of the metal as well as its friction, wear and corrosion-resistance. This process also corresponds to AMS 2488D aerospace material norms and the biocompatible treatment is widely applied in the aerospace, medical and automobile industries. The process also results in a uniquely colored case that stands out from other titanium watches. The 49.8 mm x 38 mm case is also shockproof and scratchproof. The RM016 Titalyt? features the automatic winding 005-S caliber skeleton movement with variable rotor geometry. The watch displays hours, minutes, date indicator and variable geometry rotor.

JeanRichard Bressel Hommage a DanielAs the name implies, the new JeanRichard Bressel Hommage a Daniel automatic watch is a tribute to the gorgeous Daniel pocket watch from the XVIII century. Created by Daniel JeanRichard 300, it featured a sophisticated chain and fusee mechanism and was a technical marvel.Like the last year’s JeanRichard Aquascope 300m diving watch, the new timekeeper comes powered by their own JR 1000 automatic movement that was introduced around four years ago and is made solely in-house.JeanRichard is directly related to the famous Girard-Perregaux manufacture, another member of the SOWIND Group. So, it is clear that JR has all the means necessary to design and build its own base calibers without the need to turn to mass-produced ebauches from ETA or their clones from independent manufacturers.The watch, which is to be officially introduced early next week during the SIHH 2011 show, will be presented in a slim-looking 18-carat rose gold case.At 38 mm in diameter, it is rather small by today’s standards. However, being a dressy watch, it is just ideal to wear with business attire or with some other kind of formal dress.As one may easily guess looking at the pictures, the new JeanRichard Bressel Hommage a Daniel features a lacquered dial, which serves as a perfect background for the blued steel hands and painted Roman numerals.A small aperture at 3 o’clock shows a simple calendar with Arabic numerals on its rotating disk printed in red. Also a very nice touch.
