Tissot makes classic cool again with a watch design capable of appealing to each owner’s needs. With five available movements, light- or dark-toned dials and two case finishes for certain models, 21 varieties of the new Tissot Couturier watches fill the line. You’ll enjoy this top-of-the-line black-faced automatic chronograph Couturier as a classic sport watch built well by the Swiss, and handsome enough to forgive any minor misgivings or design quirks. The look doesn’t scream “buy me” when viewed alone, but rather sells itself once paired with a wrist and worn with a satisfying result. 72 Uniqueness On purpose, Tissot creates a familiar “I’ve seen this look before” design with the Couturier line of timepieces. Oddly enough, the model name is a play on “couture” meaning custom-made, high-fashion objects. The idea behind the title is the wide array of model choices given the different movements options, which include three Swiss ETA mechanicals (an ETA 2893-2, Valjoux 7750 or ETA C01.211), and two ETA quartz movements (an ETA F06.161 or ETA G10.211). This makes for two chronographs, a day-date, big date, and a standard three-hand watch layout. The pictured Tissot Couturier houses the new ETA C01.211 automatic mechanical chronograph movement with the ***y large tri-compax subdial array. The steel case bulges at the corners like the hood on a muscle car, with square pushers that communicate precision quality. A tachometer on the dial periphery lacks enough markings to be precise, but helps round out the dial design. Read more 87 Durability Tissot offers Swiss watch luxuries at typically non-luxury prices. Being part of the Swatch group gives them access to a healthy parts bin of ETA movements and quality case materials. Precision milled grade 316L steel cases and sapphire crystals protect your investment, while textured leather straps on deployment buckles help to remind you of Tissot’s long history of fine watch production. Unique components of the design help this Tissot Couturier stand out a bit. These include the interspaced, raised black tiles between the faceted hour markers, as well as the hip-looking case design. The 10-hour chronograph complication will prove useful when needed, but feels more stylistic than utilitarian in purpose. Dagger hands are tasteful, but the applied lume seems inadequate for comfortable night-time viewing. It has appeared as a blurry picture next to a "coming soon" teaseron their site for quite some time, but now the picture is finally clear, and somespecs and pictures have been published.Before I get into the details of the Navigator, I'd like to mention a few thingsabout Tissot Tactile watches in general. First of all, I happen to be wearing aT-Touch on on my wrist right now (detailed review forthcoming), and I love it. TheTactile line of watches allows you to navigate by tapping the sapphire crystal indifferent locations rather than pressing a mode button over and over.
