Apolo Anton Ohno, the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian of all time and OMEGA Ambassador, visited the OMEGA Flagship Boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York City on Wednesday, June 16th with his father, Yuki, for a special event in advance of Father's Day.The speed skating star presented his father with an OMEGA timepiece as a special Father's Day gift and met with consumers. In honor of Father's Day, Apolo and Yuki also participated in a forum discussion about their father-son bond and Olympic experience, moderated by WNBC-TV's Bruce Beck."My father has been my number-one fan my entire career and his unwavering support has helped me become the athlete, and the man, I am today," said Ohno. "I'm very excited to present my dad with an OMEGA timepiece as a special Father's Day gift and honor him here today �C I know he will wear his new Seamaster Aqua Terra with pride, like I do."Ohno, who wears the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Olympic Timeless Collection chronograph, became an official OMEGA Ambassador just prior to the Vancouver Olympics, where he made history. Ohno is joined as an OMEGA Ambassador by fellow athletes Michael Phelps, Sergio Garcia and Michelle Wie.OMEGA has a rich Olympic history, dating back to 1932. At the Vancouver Games, OMEGA served its role as Official Timekeeper for the 24th time, responsible for timing every Olympic event as well as data handling, the display of results at the venues, and the distribution of the results to the world's media. The IAAF Diamond League is an annual series of one-day meets which intends, as one of its main goals, to enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics. The 14 meetings planned for 2010 replace the Golden League, whose six meetings were contested exclusively in Europe. The IAAF Diamond League will still include the most prestigious events on the European athletics calendar but will also feature meetings in China and the United States and will kick off its ambitious schedule in Doha, Qatar on the 14th of May.Stephen Urquhart, the president of OMEGA, said, "We are looking forward to timing the performances of the talented men and women competing in the international IAAF Diamond League meetings.
