Limited Edition of 13 Sets GO has introduced thirteen limited edition sets comprising refurbished mechanical marine chronometers from the 1970s and the same number of platinum-encased Senator Chronometer wristwatches. Both timepieces represent the finest of German watchmaking traditions: the marine chronometers originally manufactured in Glash��tte have been restored by experts from Glash��tte Original's restoration workshop. The second member of this extraordinary set is the Platinum edition of the high end Saxon manufacture's extraordinary Senator Chronometer, winner of "Watch of the Year" award in 2010 and one of the finest of contemporary mechanical timepieces. Construction and development of mechanical marine chronometers began in the 19th century. Over the course of more than a century, some 13,000 were manufactured in Glash��tte. Thirteen of these historic instruments, manufactured during the final years of production in Glash��tte, were discovered during preparations for the opening of the German Watch Museum Glash��tte. It was an astonishing find, and each has been carefully restored and lavishly finished: the entire chronometer housing has been carefully polished and given a sophisticated rhodium finish, as have the fittings and screws. Glash��tte Original's restoration experts built new gimbal mountings for each of the chronometers, and highly skilled artisans crafted thirteen wooden cases in matt black oak. The Senator Chronometer is the first precision timepiece from Glash��tte Original to receive official chronometer certification. Tested over the course of 15 days by the chronometer-testing branch of the Office of Weights and Measures of the State of Thuringia, this prestigious timepiece passed a series of severe tests with flying colors, thus earning an official chronometer certificate - certified assurance of the highest rate precision in a mechanical watch. Notable features of the Senator Chronometer Platinum include an innovative stop-seconds reset mechanism that makes it much easier to synchronize the minute and second hands when setting the time.

The house of Glashutte Original has proudly released its new Seventies Panorama date watch, inspired by the 1970s, the TV screen in particular. The model will be officially unveiled within the framework of the forthcoming Baselworld 2011 trade show.The new Glashutte Original watch has adopted a cushion-shaped stainless steel case, which measures 40 mm in diameter. It boasts top and bottom sapphire crystals. The case is equipped with a protected winding crown, conventionally located at 3 o�clock. The case is complimented by a perfectly balanced dial, performed in matt silver, galvanized ruthenium or blue. The display of the new Seventies Panorama date watch comprises applied hour-markers as well as hour, minute and seconds hands turning over them.All the elements are crafted from white or rose gold and treated with a luminous coating. The dial also offers a date indication, arranged in the aperture at 6 o�clock.The functions are driven by an automatic Glashutte Original 39-47 movement. 30,95 mm in diameter, it incorporates a skeletonized rotor and a swan�s neck regulator. The mechanism beats to the rhythm of 28, 800 vibrations per hour and offers a 40-hour power reserve.
