At 2 o'clock, the date completes the annual calendar, by an ingenious device automatically allowing for months of a different length. A single annual correction at most is needed, in February, except for the leap years.Fragments of universe cut out in the mother-of-pearl, celestial visions moving across the gracious dial: terrestrial, lunar and stellar time are brought together harmoniously in a watch with a remarkable aesthetic power of attraction. Girard-Perregaux demonstrates once again the art of incorporating watch complications as design features in their own right. The combination of precious materials and gentle curves completes the refinement of the Cat's Eye Annual and Zodiac Calendars. Crafted in gold, the characteristic oval of this collection is here adorned with 68 diamonds (about 0.68 carat) on the bezel. The irresistible sparkle of the precious stones echoes the iridescent reflections of the mother-of-pearl dial, which makes each watch unique. The product of painstaking work, in itself it requires about sixty manufacturing steps.Such sophistication demands perfection in the slightest details. This set of functions is driven by the Girard-Perregaux GP033M0 mechanical movement with automatic winding, which is unveiled through the transparent case-back. Avant-garde technologies together with the expert hands of watchmakers made it possible to manufacture this complex calibre.

Demonstrating the love for details close to perfection, the model is proposed with a 40 mm round-shaped case. It is rendered in white or rose gold. The case is equipped with a time-setting crown, located at 3 o'clock. The water-resistance of the model is assured down to 30 meters.Both front and back sides of the timepiece are fitted with high quality sapphire crystals. The top glass is held in place by a bezel, also sculptured in white or rose gold. The bottom sapphire crystal, meanwhile, sheds the light on the details of the in-house automatic movement - calibre GP03300-50. It oscillates at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasts a 46-hour power reserve.This mechanism serves to animate the functions of hour, minutes and small seconds, which can be read off on a dial, clothed in white "Grand Feu" enamel. A tough assignment, which can be accomplished by a very few experts, this remarkable technique involves fixing the enamel powder and assuring its harmonious balance through heat during delicate firing stages. Characterized by a high level of resistance, the material of enamel gives the display of the new 1966 Small Second watch a truly exceptional character.The dial is completed with black-painted Arabic numerals. Gliding smoothly over them are blued steel leaf-shaped hour and minutes hands. The small seconds tick away in a counter, featured at 6 o'clock. The hand, which gracefully skims around this sub-dial, is also crafted from blued steel.
