In line with the 70th anniversary of their original wrist chronograph model, Longines has put back the Longines Istituto Idrografico R. Marina timepiece.They kept the original essence of the watch that is produced for the officers of the Italian Navy in 1938, but added a touch of modernism in terms of the technical facet.The watch measures 44mm in diameter, featuring a stainless steel case in a genuine deep tan alligator strap. It has a black polished dial with the name of the Italian hydrographic institute to give highlight to its intended commemoration. The indexes are coated in superluminova luminescent, as well as the dark blue hands for an easy time reading.The case back is stamped with the prominent "Istituto Idrografico della Regia Marina," as for which it was originally made.

Longines Ladies Diamond ConquestThe new Longines Ladies Diamond Conquest quartz watch makes the sporty timekeeper a little bit more feminine in style, while preserving the robustness of the original, non-decorated watch.Designing this version of the watch, Longines used the time-proven recipe: to make a dressier version of a sporty watch, just take an existing model and adorn it with diamonds.As an icing on the cake, the Swiss watchmaker has also replaced a silvered diamond with white lacquered mother-of-pearl, which is further decorated with 11 smaller diamonds that serve as hour markers.The heavy sword-shaped hour and minute hands, as well as the pair of crown protectors are still here.Equipped with the L263.2 quartz movement, which is based on ETA 955.412 caliber, the watch offers a standard three-hand layout with an extra small date aperture at 3 o’clock.Although there is nothing really interesting about this caliber, it is a pleasure to know that it is rather accurate and you don’t need it every now and then with all the hassle limited to periodic servicing and replacing the battery once in five or six years.The Diamond Conquest may become a successful watch if Longines manages to keep the price low.
