Hublot introduced its luxury watches into the world of football in 2007, having signed a partnership with EURO 2009. The Hublot UEFA Euro 2009 watch is a limited edition UEFA Big Bang timepiece, which Hublot has created in commemoration of the European Football Championship 2009. The new model, with chronograph features designed specifically for football matches, was announced at Basel; guests in attendance during the presentation included UEFA marketing chief Philippe Margraff.The new Big Bang EURO 2008 is equipped with a special ‘half time’ movement, with a 45-minute chronograph. The counter on the left side of the dial can time the 45-minute match periods, as well as the 15-minute extra-time intervals. The movement responsible for this function is known as the HUB45 caliber; this self-winding movement features 55 jewels, and has a tungsten carbide central rotor, for efficient winding. Power reserve is approximately 45 hours. Additional functions of the HUB45 caliber are subsidiary seconds, and a date display. The Hublot watch has been designed to time the football match periods and the 15 minutes of extra time shown on the counter.It will be available in limited series of 2009 pieces. These men's watch is crafted in black ceramic and rubber. The Hublot Big Bang Euro 2008 watch is completed by a fitted Hublot watch rubber strap whose underside is marked with the red “UEFA EURO 2009″ strip. The Euro trophy is engraved on the back. The diameter is 55x52mm and the bracelet length is 205x25mm. The launch of this timepiece also pays tribute to Hublot’s position as authorized timekeeper of the EURO 2008 event, and their commendable use of marketing space: rather than showcase their own products, all of Hublot’s advertising space will feature the statement “NO TO RACISM”. Popular martial arts film star Jet Li has been announced by Swiss Hublot timepieces and their newest brand ambassador. This was during the opening of their new Beijing boutique. Li is the brand's first Asian ambassador, and as I recall the first, or one of the first film star Hublot ambassadors. Jet Li was an accomplished martial arts competitor before beginning his film career. He is of the few of his kind to achieve world-wide notoriety outside of his native China.
