This timepiece employs Chopard's newest caliber, the LUC 96SH, which took two years to develop. An opening at 12 o'clock allows viewing of the striking mechanism and of the hammer performing its strike. It strikes each passing hour exactly once. To achieve this, the mechanism provides for a period of several minutes the energy required to raise the hammer, and then releases it on each passing hour.
