Admirers of Casio watches have been advised to check out the latest G-Shock model released by the renowned timepiece manufacturer, which has been specifically designed for endurance.According to hip-hop publication The Source, the new X-Large Combination fashion watches - which are available in both black and white with silver accents - can survive "the most extreme of situations" and ares water-resistant to depths of 200 metres.Last month, One India News reported that the firm had launched the GA-110 design, which comes in a total of seven colours and features a velocity indicator, magnetic resistance and a stopwatch.G-Shock watches were originally inspired by a childhood accident endured by inventor Kikuo Ibe, who dropped and broke one of his father's watches as a youngster and set out to create more hardwearing timepieces.The series has since racked up more than 50 million sales across the world, the New York Times claimed in November.

Water-resistant Casio watches should not be considered as niche products, the company has insisted.According to Sue Vandershans, creative director at Casio America, a waterproof watch can come in handy in many different situations."Most people today encounter some water in their daily routine, even if it's just sitting at a lunch table when someone knocks over a jug of water," she commented.Speaking to CANOE, she said this is just one example of how a waterproof watch can be a useful and necessary item to have.Ms Vandershans noted that Casio has been producing water-resistant watches for almost three decades.The G-Shock watch was the first product of its kind to be rolled out by the manufacturer some 27 years ago.Ms Vandershans added that a waterproof watch should be able to withstand any of the unfortunate accidents that "life throws at you".This comes after the Japan Times noted that the Casio is emulating many of the features of its G-Shock watches in its other products, such as its new CA005 mobile phone.
