The extraordinary mechanism was born as a result of painstaking effort invested by highly-qualified specialists within a period of five years. A true technical feat, the individually numbered movement is 10.1 mm thick and boasts a diameter of 32.5 mm.It comprises 281 individual parts. Embellished with 43 jewels, the mechanism runs at the rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve. The movement, housed in the new Cartier watch, required 60 hours of hand finishing. It also incorporates a circular-grained main plate. Its bridges, meanwhile, are beveled, drawn and adorned with Cotes de Geneve pattern.The zest of the caliber 9800 MC is an escapement, fitted on the oscillating weight in order to eliminate the effects of gravity in vertical positions.
