At the time of the 125e birthday of its foundation, Bvlgari dedicates a watch to this pioneer with the multiple cultures, at the same time businessman and esthete. A watch as extraordinary as the founder of this prestigious house. Three commemorative editions created each one with 125 specimens, with case 42 mm out of pink, yellow or white gold, celebrate the 125 years of Bvlgari .The new watch Sotirio Bvlgari posts a traditional style reinterpreted by a contemporary glance. Perfect synthesis between innovative design and clock *** know-how, it is characterized by the extreme smoothness from its realization and the care taken to the details. The models of the new collection dedicated to this man of exception are equipped with a movement of manufacture, a dial decorated with invaluable treatments and with a case to the single design whose glasses are characterized by the absence from the Bvlgari logo.This watch pays not only homage to the founder of the Bvlgari house, but also to a great tradition: that one even which allowed the creation of a case innovating the technique plans and esthetics. All the models of the collection Sotirio Bvlgari are characterized by their horns fixed at the bottom from the case and formant from the convergent angles. This new structure offers an extreme impact resistance, in spite of a minimal contact with the case, and allows a refined and precise alternation of polished and brushed su***ces. The watches are also equipped with a personalized crown of winder, glass anti-reflecting treated convex sapphire and with a bottom of transparent case.The silver plated dial is carried out by Bvlgari ; the Roman numerals and the faceted indices are applied to the hand. The needles of the hours and the minutes' openwork and are faceted.The bracelet in alligator is decorated a Bulgari loop with gold tongue 18 carats. Gauge BVL 250 is an automatic movement of manufacture personalized for Bulgari and composed of 250 parts, with 32 rubies. The watch has a reserve of 55 hours walk and presents a frequency of 4 Hz, that is to say 28 800 alternations per hour. The diameter of the movement is 25,60 mm, for a thickness of 3,73 Misters. The bridges present a single design and are raised various treatments: Coasts of Geneva, set with diamonds and beaded. (Click image for gallery - 4 photos)I have never seen anyone wearing a Bvlgari wristwatch (other than maybe Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man). Bvlgari has a large multi-level boutique in Manhattan (Bvlgari also sell is jewelry), and many other throughout the world, just like Audemars Piguet or Omega, for example. Yet I have seen many people wearing Omega and Audemars Piguet timepieces, never a Bvlgari though. I'm not sure how much traction the brand has in the highly competitive luxury watch market, but based on what I've heard, and Bvlgari's January 2010 announcement to combined their two haute horology brands, Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta under the Bvlgari name, there is clearly some turmoil within their watch division.That said, this new sports watch is the best watch I have seen from Bvlgari to date. It is not powered by their new in-house movement (which they finally brought to market this year, after 10 years of development). Instead, the new Diagono Professional Chronograph GMT X-Pro is powered by a less exclusive, but reliable Valjoux 7750 automatic mechanical chronograph movement, with an add-on GMT module. So, the watch looks good, somewhat like the Vacheron Constantin Overseas even, but in order to sell it they will need more than just looks and the Bvlgari name. If they price it correctly, then it might takeoff, but if they price it anything above $7,000, then it will just be another overpriced Valjoux 7750 timepiece. It should be available in stores soon.
