An Apogee of European Watchmaking Exhibition: 25 June �C 7 September 2009Sully Wing salle de la ChapelleThrough this retrospective of the works of Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823), visitors to the Louvre will discover the art of watchmaking at its apogee, evidenced by these unique precision timepieces, combining genius, virtuoso techniques and avant-garde aesthetics. Assembled in the exhibition are exceptional loans �C watches, clocks and measuring instruments �C alongside portraits, archival documents and patents that span the entire production of the House of Breguet.Opening times: daily except Tuesdays, 9am-6pm. Late-night opening until 10 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Admission: access to the exhibition is included in the admission to the permanent collections of the museum: �9; �6 after 6pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Breguet Classique 7337 in Rose GoldThe legendary Swiss watchmaker has reissued the 2009 Breguet Classique 7337 automatic watch in a rose gold case.Beside the choice of metal, there are no visual differences between the original and the 2011 year reissue.The refreshed model comes equipped with the same Caliber 502.3 QSE1 ultra-thin automatic movement that features an antimagnetic silicon balance spring and a hand-guilloche 18-carat gold winding rotor.The dial is also the same featuring an off-centered chapter ring with Roman numerals, a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, a phases and age of the moon indicator at 12 o’clock and day of week and date indicators placed at 10 and 2 o’clock respectively.The whole display is framed into a finely crafted 39 mm rose gold case with fluted middle part and a pair of sapphire crystals both at the front and on the back.As far as I understand, Breguet doesn’t plan to limit the 7337’s production: when you price a watch like a Mercedes SUV, the limits are set naturally by the invisible hand of the market.
