I just received word that effective January 2011, Wilhelm Schmid, a former BMW executive, will takeover as Chief Executive Officer of A. Lange & Sohne. Wilhelm Schmid, 47, a German national, has held several positions in Marketing and Sales over the last eight years for BMW. Since 2007 he has been responsible for Sales and Marketing for BMW South Africa. Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jerome Lambert will continue acting as interim CEO until Schmid takes over in January. Source: A. A. Lange & Sohne unveils its new Saxonia Dual Time watch created as a perfect timekeeping companion for travelers. The highly-legible solid-silver dial of the new A. Lange & Sohne watch allows to instantly read the local and home time at a glance. The creators of the Saxonia Dual Time watch wanted to make the procedure of setting the time for a second time-zone most convenient. While switching from one time-zone to another, the hour hand, showing local time, can be incremented or decremented in one-hour steps with help of the push-pieces found at 8 and 10 o�clock. When the watch owner presses the upper push-piece, the hour hand moves forward by one hour. When he presses the lower push-piece, the hour hand moves back, also in one-hour steps. While the hour hand is moved to the necessary position, the minute hand continues running. The second hour hand in blued steel is responsible for indicating the home time. There is also a 24-hour sub-dial in the upper part of the dial that is synchronized with home time.The 40mm case of the watch is crafted from pink or white gold. It accommodates the completely redesigned self-winding movement - calibre L086.2. The movement acquired an extra hand-setting mechanism for the second time-zone. It incorporates a central rotor with a 950 platinum centrifugal mass that provided energy-efficient winding. The movement gives an advantage of a 72-hour power reserve. The movement boasts a hand-engraved balance cock, an indexless oscillation system with a screw balance, and the brand�s proprietary balance spring. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. The 268-part, 31-jewel movement is meticulously decorated by hand. The su***ces of the movement components, even of those not visible after final assembly, are finished with finely executed polishing and decorating techniques. The A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Dual Time watch is presented on a hand-stitched black or chestnut crocodile strap. It is fitted with a Lange prong buckle in solid gold.
