It is also ideal for synchronising watches and clocks at different locations: the actuation of the push piece synchronises the seconds hand of the instrument with that of a reference clock exactly when its hand passes the 60-seconds mark ("zero"). This action "stores" the time of the reference clock and allows it to be transferred to other timekeeping instruments. The RICHARD LANGE "Referenzuhr" pays homage to a stronghold of time measurement that played in important role in 19th-century Dresden: the timekeeping service of the Mathematics and Physics Salon.Keeper of timeAs the "keeper of time", this scientific institution was responsible for precisely determining the local time and *** it available to the city's population. So in a sense, it was the predecessor of present-day atomic clocks and time signal transmitters. But in those days, the correct time had to be calculated on the basis of astronomical observations. The result was then transferred to a high-precision pendulum clock in the salon. It was crafted by Johann Heinrich Seyffert who did more to promote precision horology in Dresden than any other watchmaker. His most prominent customer, naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt, purchased one of Seyffert's chronometers for his now acclaimed Latin American expedition.The RICHARD LANGE "Referenzuhr" features a large balance wheel with eccentric poising weights and a Lange balance spring developed and manufactured in-house. A. Lange & Sohne unveils its new Saxonia Dual Time watch created as a perfect timekeeping companion for travelers. The highly-legible solid-silver dial of the new A. Lange & Sohne watch allows to instantly read the local and home time at a glance. The creators of the Saxonia Dual Time watch wanted to make the procedure of setting the time for a second time-zone most convenient. While switching from one time-zone to another, the hour hand, showing local time, can be incremented or decremented in one-hour steps with help of the push-pieces found at 8 and 10 o�clock. When the watch owner presses the upper push-piece, the hour hand moves forward by one hour. When he presses the lower push-piece, the hour hand moves back, also in one-hour steps. While the hour hand is moved to the necessary position, the minute hand continues running. The second hour hand in blued steel is responsible for indicating the home time. There is also a 24-hour sub-dial in the upper part of the dial that is synchronized with home time.The 40mm case of the watch is crafted from pink or white gold. It accommodates the completely redesigned self-winding movement - calibre L086.2. The movement acquired an extra hand-setting mechanism for the second time-zone. It incorporates a central rotor with a 950 platinum centrifugal mass that provided energy-efficient winding. The movement gives an advantage of a 72-hour power reserve. The movement boasts a hand-engraved balance cock, an indexless oscillation system with a screw balance, and the brand�s proprietary balance spring. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. The 268-part, 31-jewel movement is meticulously decorated by hand. The su***ces of the movement components, even of those not visible after final assembly, are finished with finely executed polishing and decorating techniques. The A.
